Pumps and Pumping Systems (3 days)

The introduction course will comprise Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced days. The course will provide those required to design pumping stations, approve designs or advise on improvements to existing pumping systems with the skills they need.

The course will be live and interactive, allowing verbal exchanges with the lecturer, and will include exercises to enable participants to learn the techniques required to design efficient pumping systems.

The Introduction day (Day 1) will cover the basics and provide an overview of fluid properties, pressure and head, positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, hydraulic gradient, pump and system curves and pump components.

The Intermediate day (Day 2) will build on the basics covered the previous day and cover more advanced liquid properties, Bernoulli’s equation, pump curves & velocity vectors, pump selection, pressure transients (surge) analysis, an introduction to the Pumping System Design Guide and basic pump fault finding.

The Advanced day (Day 3) will build on the previous day’s courses with more complex material and enable the delegate to become proficient in the design of pumping systems, produce system curves in the office or on-site, design systems with series and parallel pumping installations, approve designs submitted by others and advise on improvements to existing pumping systems.
