Preparation for the course

The training sessions will be conducted using Microsoft Teams (MS Teams). If you are not familiar with the use of MS Teams, please contact the lecturer via email bob.went@outlook.com and he will send you guidance notes and, if required, set-up a connection demonstration.

To gain maximum benefit from the course it is recommended that you login in from a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. It is also recommended that you use a microphone and a webcam so that you can interact with the course lecturer, ask questions, participate in discussions, and complete exercises. Whilst listening to the lecturer you are advised to set your microphone to mute to eliminate any extraneous noise being transmitted and only switch on your microphone when you want to ask a question or make a comment.

After you have booked the course a printed copy of the presentation slides will be sent to the delivery address that you have provided on your reservation form. The notes will be in a format that allows you to take notes during the course. To ensure that you receive the notes in good time you must have emailed your complete reservation form to the Pump Centre ( karen.bridgeman@arcadis.com ) at least 7 working days in advance of the date for the “Introduction” day (DAY 1), irrespective of which day or days of the course you are attending. Those booking to attend the course after this date will still be sent a copy of the printed material, but it may not arrive in time for the day(s) booked.

Joining the course

The course will be presented using MS Teams. You do not need to have MS Teams installed on your PC or IOS device because a web version will be made available to you during the log in process. If you have not used MS Teams before and would like guidance, please contact the courses lecturer (bob.went@outlook.com ) who will provide further details.

Please remember to use your full name when signing into the course so that you can be identified and admitted. The course lecturer will have a list of registered delegates and will expect you to sign into the course using the same name that you used on your registration form.

You will receive two email invitations for each day of the course. The first email will be for the morning sessions and the second for the afternoon sessions. Please remember to log out after the morning sessions and use the web link for the afternoon sessions to log in again.

Course etiquette

Please observe the following etiquette during the course to ensure it runs smoothly:

General comments

The quality of the course video & audio will depend heavily on the strength and type of internet connection available to all participants.

All lecturers have access to high speed internet connections. However, the reliability of any connection is not 100% guaranteed and there is always a risk of connection issues. Please indicate to the lecturer during the course if you are experiencing connection problems. The lecturer will assess the duration and extent of the problem and if possible, try to resolve the situation. Where a delegate’s course experience has been badly affected by a poor connection the delegate will be offered remedial options including, where appropriate, access to live sessions to fill any gaps in the course content.
