This course provides an introduction to pumping installations covering design principles, different types of pumps, explanations of pump and system curves, pump components and basic fault-finding techniques and terminology.
The course will be of particular benefit to those with no previous experience in this area but are to become responsible for designing, maintaining or operating pumping installations, especially in the water industry. It will also benefit those with no technical background who need to develop an understanding of the technology and terms used due to the nature of their work.
No technical knowledge or prior experience with pumps is required. The course presentations will gradually build and develop an understanding of pumps, pump systems and components to ensure that delegates become familiar with the technology and terminology used.
Topics covered will include an overview of the importance of liquid properties, explanations of terms such as pressure and head, different types of positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, description of pump component parts and their function, explaining pump and system curves and how pumps are selected, basic fault-finding techniques and general terminology. A printed copy of the presentations will be provided.
The course will be live and interactive, allowing ample time for delegates to ask questions.
